ABOUT THE AUTHOR

I'm Belén Llopis Pérez, a professional translator and interpreter, specialised in conference, public services and business interpreting.

Since I was little, I have always been passionate about languages and that is why in 2015 I started a Degree in Translation and Interpreting with Spanish, Catalan, English, French and Arabic at the University of Alicante.

 

During my undergraduate studies, I had the oportunity to carry out two mobility programs. The first one at the University of Turku (Finland) for one year and the second one at Ottawa University (Canada) during Fall term.

 

In my last year as undergraduate, I had the chance to interpret for an Occupational Therapy three-day conference in the Colegio de Médicos in Alicante. I also performed as a trainee interpreter in a private hospital in the same city. It was in that moment when I realised that I am really passionated about interpreting. For that reason, in 2019 I decided to move to Scotland where I enrolled in the MSc Interpreting (Englis >< Spanish) at Heriot-Watt University, which offered me the possibility to specialise not only in the three areas I mentioned at the begining, but also in international politics, intercultural communication and research.

Apart from that, I am very interested in sustainability and I have taken some courses to specialize in the field. Other fields that I am also passionate about are legal, financial, institutional and medical.
